Cats wanting to be held like babies becomes unavoidable once it begins. At some point a cat decides that independence is not worth it & being cradled is the right way to live. Arms suddenly become necessary furniture and standing still turns into a duty. The request is never quiet. A cat will show up and climb partway up and expect the rest to be done for them. Once picked up they settle in with total confidence and tuck themselves into the bend of an arm like this was the plan all along. Purring begins right away in a slow and loud way as if to say that yes this is right and no you cannot put them down yet.
Walking around the house turns into a slow movement that is carefully done to avoid bothering the precious cargo. What makes it funny is how natural it feels to go along with it. A creature known for doing whatever it wants somehow makes everyone believe that this arrangement is needed. They relax completely and become heavy with trust like a sleepy baby who knows they are safe. At that point fighting it is useless. The only choice is to hold them until they decide cuddle time is over.
