People who love cats will overlook any bad behavior such as when a cat pushes a cherished cup off a table or bites someone’s feet during the night. I grew up with two cats. One was an older cat who kept the peace and the other was wild & caused trouble. The older cat named Chica was small like a cantaloupe and used her tiny size to climb onto anyone’s lap. My dad had bad allergies to cat fur but Chica seemed to understand this and stayed away from him. She was thoughtful like that and wanted everyone in the house to be comfortable and not sneeze. The other cat was grey & huge and acted mean. We named her Pookie & she was mostly wild and preferred being outdoors. She showed us she loved the family by leaving dead lizards or birds on the porch every week. After I cleaned up many of these gifts from Pookie I started to understand how she showed affection. She was not gentle and sweet like Chica but she had her own way of showing she cared about the family. We might not have valued her constant hunting around the house at first but when the rats disappeared and Pookie controlled the backyard we realized she was a good cat too.
